World Environment Day

The World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 at the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.
Commemorated each year on June 5, World Environment Day is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness on topical environmental issues and enhances political attention and action.

The global theme for this year's celebration is "Many Species, One Planet, One Future". This theme ties in with this year's World Biodiversity Day.
To champion for environmental conservation and protection, KWS will take a lead role to commemorate this day.  KWS stations countrywide in liaison with various partners and government institutions like NEMA (National Environment Management Authority), will conduct tree planting exercises, garbage collection and conduct environmental awareness campaigns in schools.
