Welcome to Kenya Wildlife Service

Ambassador’s Bush Breakfast

February 26, 2010.

Kenya Wildlife Service on Friday February 26, 2010 hosted a delegation of diplomats based in Nairobi for a bush breakfast to brief them on Kenya’s position against international trade in elephant ivory . The 730am event at the historical Ivory Burning Site in Nairobi National Park will be preceded by a game drive from 6am.  Kenya along with more than 20 other African countries are proposing a halt to the limited international trade in African elephant ivory and a 20-year moratorium on any proposals to relax international trade controls on African elephants.
New measures to conserve and manage sustainably the elephant populations are being proposed by governments attending the next triennial world conference of the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in Doha, Qatar next month.
