The Kenya Wildlife Service and the Hell’s Gate National Park Stakeholders Management Committee will tomorrow evening (Friday, June 11, 2010 from
4pm) show the opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2010 between Mexico and South Africa on the pay television channel DSTV big screen in the wild.
The kick-off has been billed as one of the host Rainbow Nation South Africa’s most memorable moments.
The screening of the opening ceremony and two kick-off matches in Soccer City Stadium is part of the build-up to the fun-cum-fundraising event dubbed To Hell’s Gate on a Wheelbarrow the following day (Saturday June 12, 2010).
The wheelbarrow racers will yet again have the chance to navigate through a five-kilometre challenging course within this spectacular national park!
The inaugural event last year raised a total of Ksh2,833,150, which went towards enhancing the KWS outreach programme to communities surrounding the national park through the purchase of education equipment.
To Hell’s Gate on a Wheelbarrow is an exciting, challenging and unique fundraising event whose aim is to construct a fully-equipped Conservation Education Centre, which will be used to mobilise and educate members of the surrounding communities whose land is vital for the survival of wildlife.
Note: Media crews will be allowed free entry into the park, if they provide identification/ invitation letter/this press release.
