New officials elected for Lake Nakuru committee

New officials have been elected to lead the group that helps Kenya Wildlife Service in organising the yearly Cycle with the Rhino event in Lake Nakuru Nation Park for the next two years.

Mr Ken Korir of Sarova Lion Hill and Mr Thomas Kaberi of the Nakuru Business Association were unanimously elected chairman and vice chairman respectively during the Lake Nakuru Park Action Committee’s Annual General Meeting held in Lake Nakuru National Park.  The two replace Mr Joseph Muya of Lake Nakuru Lodge and Mr Alex Mispiratceguy of Flamingo Hill Camp. The fundraising-cum-cycling event whose main sponsor is the Standard Chartered Bank raises funds for the rehabilitation of the 74km electric fence as well as supporting other conservation activities.
The committee formed in 2001 is a non-profit Nakuru-based network of stakeholders who support the conservation of the fragile Lake Nakuru National Park ecosystem and its neighbourhood. The group was previously called Friends of Lake Nakuru. This year’s Cycle with the Rhino event will be held on September 17.
