Suspected trophy dealer arrested at a city bus terminus
Date Published: 11 Feb, 2013
A suspected trophy dealer was arrested with two pieces of ivory at Kencom city bus terminus in Nairobi County while boarding a matatu to a city estate on Thursday (February 7, 2013).
Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officials were trailing the suspect, said to be working in a city hotel, after members of the public volunteered information leading to his arrest. It is believed the suspect had ferried the ivory from his home area in Mariakani in Kwale County for sale to buyers in the city.
He was booked at Central Police Station awaiting arraignment at a Milimani Law Court. KWS officials are preparing to charge him in court for being in possession, dealing with a government trophy and failing to make a report of being in its possession to authorities.
