Rhino horn suspect released on Sh5million bond

A 69-year-old city resident has denied three wildlife-crime related charges before a Kibera Court in Nairobi. Mr Osman Elmi Farah, a Kenyan, denied being illegally in possession of a government trophy, dealing in a government trophy without a dealer’s license and failing to make a report of the possession of the trophy. He was released on a bond of Sh5 million and two sureties of the same amount.

The hearing of the case was put on July 25, 2012 at the same court. The court was told that the accused was arrested on Sunday at 6pm with four pieces of old rhino horns weighing 5.5kg on Sunday at Old Racecourse area Phase III in Kariokor in Nairobi by Kenya Wildlife Service personnel.
