New milestone for Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute

Graduants at a past Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute (KWSTI) graduation ceremony. The Minister for Higher Education Science and Technology has authorised the Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute to award certificates and diplomas in seven courses.

 The Minister for Higher Education Science and Technology has authorised the Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute to award certificates and diplomas in seven courses.
In a gazette notice dated February 17, 2012,  Prof Margaret Kamar invoked the powers conferred by section 21 (b) of the Education Act to grant the powers to the Naivasha-based training institute.
The  action means that the  KWSTI certifcates  and diplomas will now be fully recognised within Kenya and globally since this  authority has been granted by the highest government body in charge of education.
This is a great achievement for KWSTI and by extension KWS. 
KWSTI  becomes the third institute in Kenya to be awarded this authority.  The other two are the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and Kenya School of Monetary Studies (an academic wing of the Central Bank).  This authority has uplifted the KWSTI profile so it can attract more trainees and open up more training opportunities for not just Kenya but the broader East Africa.  
A formal public ceremony to mark the reception of the award and launching of our new curricula will be held.  Below are the approved courses:
DIPLOMA

1.    Diploma in Environmental Management
2.    Diploma in Fisheries & Aquatic Sciences
3.    Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality Management
4.    Diploma in Wildlife Management

CERTIFICATE

1.    Certificate in Aquaculture
2.    Certificate in Community Wildlife Management
3.    Certificate in Nature Interpretation & Tour Administration
