Administration police officer arrested with 6kg of Ivory in Kiambu

The Administration Police officer arrested with two pieces of worked ivory at the KWS headquarters in Nairobi.

An Administration Police (AP) officer was this morning arrested by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officials with two pieces of worked ivory at the Gathiga AP Post in Kiambu County following a tip-off from the public. This is the second such arrest made by KWS officials this week.
The suspect was arrested while attempting to sell off the six-kilogramme trophies at Sh.40,000 per kilo. An AP motorbike (GK B 647A) which was used to transport the trophies was also impounded during the operation.
The suspect will be arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts on Monday morning.
Earlier this week, another AP officer was arrested with 40kg of ivory at the Kawangware AP Camp in Nairobi.
