Message of condolence over Westgate mall tragedy

Following the tragic events at the Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Board of Trustees, management and staff extend sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims and empathize with the survivors.

As we join the rest of the country and indeed the world in mourning the departed souls and wishing a speedy and full recovery to the survivors, we remain committed to ensuring that our national parks and reserves are safe for our visitors.

At KWS, we are particularly encouraged that in the midst of the violence and fear, there has been great courage and heroism. KWS staff who donated blood and foodstuffs at Kenyatta National Hospital joined other Kenyans in demonstrating outstanding unity in the face of adversity.

Our hearts have been touched by the images and testimonies of ordinary Kenyans doing extraordinary things to help and comfort each other. We stand united and have resolved to rebuild Kenya and be stronger than ever before. We stand shoulder to shoulder with Kenyans and other affected nationalities in this time of grief for these lives lost and the many injured.

As the country undergoes long and painful healing process, we are confident that the resilience and strength of the Kenyan people and her friends will overcome the tragedy in the shortest time possible.

We wish to assure visitors to our national parks and reserves that in conjunction with other security agencies, we are doing everything possible to ensure that they are all safe.

In the event of any inquiry or report, please do not hesitate to contact us on a toll free line 0800597000 or 08002215566  from 8am – 5pm daily.
