To Hell’s Gate on a Wheelbarrow Event 2014

This year’s Wheelbarrow race will take place from Friday 25th at 1400 hrs to Sunday 27th July, 2014 at the magnificent Hell’s Gate National Park in Naivasha. The event which started as a simple and unique idea by KWS and Hell’s Gate National Park action committee in 2009 has now grown into the World Wildest Race!
To Hell’s Gate on a Wheelbarrow is an exciting and exceptional event in that it combines fundraising initiative with one of the Kenya’s most challenging sporting activity- wheelbarrow race. The main objective of the Wheelbarrow Race is raise funds for construction of a conservation fully equipped education center that will be used to mobilize communities and create awareness in wildlife and other conservation issues in Naivasha ecosystem.
Last year’s event raised a total of Ksh. 9 million both in cash and in kind. This money will be used to commence construction of the first phase of the Conservation Education Centre.. However, we still need Ksh. 20 million more to complete the construction.
In the 2014 event, the teams on their wheelbarrows race will be battling it out on a 7km track filled with dust, grass and unexpected pools of water. The winning team and the best pimped wheelbarrow will receive a deserving prize. In a show of might in dealing with both social and wildlife conservation issues, corporate organizations will be involved in corporate team building challenge .Other activities lined up during the event include; corporate volleyball match, 2-night camping, and a wild bush party! The children will have will be kiddies activities lined out for them!
There are various ways in which organization and individuals can participate in this exciting event, such as:
· Purchase tickets for your staff and families for the bush party (1000 per person) or
· As a team to the wheelbarrow race (5000 per 2 persons). Staff can also support this initiative through a generous donation to Mpesa Pay bill number 816950
