JICA
Vice Chairman's Visit to KWS
Mr.
Kazuhisa Matsuoka, the vice-chairman of JICA, was in Kenya
Wildlife Service (KWS) to familiarise himself with the JICA
supported activities on wildlife conservation.
Mr.
Joachim Kagiri, Deputy Director Wildlife Service, received
Matsuoka on behalf of the Director. The vice-chairman thanked
KWS for its continuous warm working relationship with JICA
advisors and volunteers and hoped that KWS/JICA project on
wildlife conservation will be a success.
Thanking
the Government of Japan’s co-operation through JICA
to KWS, Mr. Kagiri said, “KWS is currently decentralising
most of its services to the field where its core business
of conservation is based. And this will take JICA projects
close and direct to its beneficiaries” He emphasized
that the JICA assistance has always been very beneficial to
KWS and the government at large.
JICA Resident Representative Mr. Yoshiaki Kano, KWS/JICA Education
Advisor Mr. Hiroshi Imae among senior KWS officials, also
attended the function. Thereafter, Mr. Matsuoka had a guided
tour of Nairobi National Park.
Prior
to the vice-chairman’s visit, KWS Director Dr. Julius
Kipng’etich had received the new JICA Assistant Resident
Representative Ms. Chie Ezaki, as well as bid farewell to
the outgoing officer, Ms. Misa Kemmiya. Kemmiya served in
the same capacity for five years.
